Last day of 2006, hello to 2007 in 3 hours.

Friday, Larry and Li took us for DimSum at Lengendry, but it's not a good food place and service is very bad. Li had to go to the front desk after waiting 30 minutes without DimSum Cart. I found the Tara Dumping smell funny stale tastes. I will skip this place for now. Larry and Li accompany me to JiffyLube when they saw the oil spat under my parking space. It's something oil gasgate pan, so Li made the appointmnet for me on Jan 9, 2007 with Chunk's auto shop in Benicia. I also went to Sams' to change a new battery which is less than $50.00. I came home and see my last one was replaced on 11/18/02, so it's time to be replaced. I was thinking to get a new car but it is not reasonable until all the yarn are out of the garage or live in the condo.
Mom's friend from Ohio, Van, visited us few days; we didn't take the Tour that we planned. It's full since it's last minutes. Her brother and SIL's family brought her here from Scarmento. It's about 79 minutes when I look up from the maps. She looks pale after surgery not long ago. She has sleeping problems and we went worry about the Air Mattress might not work for her, but it turn out she like the it. I was glad that I can take her few place in the Oakland and shop few stuffs for her.
I gave her the new Japaness Lunch Box, I have that for long time and it's great that she can make use of it. Mom have a good time and I forgot to take picture totally!! When we went back to my Condo, I went into Andy whom was showing him sales' unit 415 and 421. We also check them out, but I like my unit locations. I put these pictures I took when I first bought it and it's empty with view. I am going to have a Yarn diet and my own diet in check, I welcome a healthier 2007 with more exercise and health eating. Take walk during lunch hours and or work out at the Gym at the condo. My goal is lose 18 pounds this year which is 1.5 lbs/mo (4950 caloria).
I found this stash 2007 rules on the blogspot, here's mine:
  1. The Knit-From-Your-stash-a-Thon will start 1/1/2007 to 9/30/2007
  2. I will not buy any yarns with one exception that someone asks for specific knitted gifts especially for family.
  3. I am allow to receive gifts of yarn.
  4. Buying knitting tool needs for knitting/crochet project is OK.

Feather and Fan Sock

While I was doing some organize this afternoon. I found this pair of sock almost done, so I finish the last few rows and bind off and thread all the lose ends. The pattern does show well with crazy strips yarn. Wah La! I have been doing more fun fur scarves; I am adding a strand of black into it. It usually take couple hours to finish and it's a great bring-a-long projects during commute. I started a baby jacket from EZ's Knitter's Almanac for Feburary. It's not a easy pattern. I have trouble with SSK, K2T.

Chain Link Sock completed

Merry Christmas day, it's a croudy day but a nice day over all. We didn't see the sun come out til noon. It's quiet day when I drive off to Oakland ChinaTown. I checked on my Parking space and there's no car parked their like last weekend. Our favoriate cat, Mango, didn't come home tonight. He stopped by yesterday but he hardly come inside the home recently. Here's one of the picture he used to laid arond my sewing machine on the table when no on around. Mom found him staying with another family two blocks away. It's very interesting to see him changes. Mom suspect he was scare of the flea spary. He is a very friendly cat and like stranger and new people come around the house.

I finished my Chain link Sock today. I used one ball of Wool Ease (some off white for the CC and MC is spiced heather brownish color) Size 2 circular needle 32" on One needles. I started since Saturday and it is a easy pattern. I am happy to get this done shortly. It's a great accomplishment to me. I don't alway finish stuff fast like in couple days. I have been doing better lately when I choose simple project like hat, scarf and sock.

Hot on the press......two more socks

I started the brown sock Friday Night and it's a plain Knit stitches cast on 44 stitches. I just finished last night. Hot on press!! The pink on I started last Sunday and the yarn got tangle very very badly. I spent over 3 hours trying to untangle that Sunday night. I took that to the knitting group Monday, Bonnie and Ellen tried to unwound that in vain. I have benn using the wool ease yarn for all my sock recently when I got them on sale at Joann at $1.77. It takes on skein for a small women size sock. I was going to cut them Tuesday night and decided I could just take out the circular needle to solve the problem. Wahla! it untangle the yarn and I continue you that and finished on Friday night. It's a pattern K one rows and K2, P1 row alternate both rows. I casted on 48rows and it fit me well.

wool ease socks, small and large socks

Both are Wool Ease Worst Weight Yarn. The left one is cast on 48 st and with Pattern of simpe one row K1,P1 stitches and K all the nex row. It's a easy pattern. It's a child size. The right one is Black color and plain K row of 56 stitches and it's a men size 10 shoes.

Felted Purse and Clog

My friend's gift, She knit and felt the clog and purse. It's such a beautiful set. The color is a medium blue althought you may see grey. I am so lucky to get a nice warm gift and especially graet for the cold night for my feet.

Fun Fur scarves: pink, yellow, lime, black

I did many scarves this month for co-worker gifts. I got these yarn when Beverly and Michael on sales with $2.00 skeins. They take 2 skeins and I usually add one similar color to add some weight and wear better. Here are the pictures: lime green, yellow, pink, black.
The off-white bead scarf was done many monthe ago when I try leaning knitting with Beads. The bead is transfer, and it didn't show well wih picture. I like the length and it show well with darker color clothing.

More hats and beret

These hats few weeks ago and ready for Ellen's collection for the needy family. All are relative easier patterns. Simply roll rims, mock cables, odessey. I can knit this in a day or two during the Bart rides and watching TV at night.

I got many left over yarns and I am going to do more. I like the mock cable and roll rims.

I use the IK's pattern for these berets. It's hard to take nice pictures when they all flap flat, but it looks very nices especially someone with long hairs.

Jaywalker sock and WIP

My first pair of Jaywalker sock. I couldn't get the color match. It took me a long time to match from the beginning 2 inches. Then, it looks like sort of opposite ended. I am giving them to my sister, she like wool socks.

This left one is another pair WIP, there're some error at the heel turn but I am not going to frog it because it's been 8 months I work on it. Hope it's done soon. They yarn is from Rosie bought from Germany's trip in spring. I don't think there's this pattern in USA.

More sock.....

I got a pair done yesterday. This was started back few months ago. It's a bit big when I casted on 64 stitches with Woolease, size 2 circular 2 needles with magic loop. I like the color and I probably will make another one. I am working. I got woke up with calls from work and I couldn't go back to sleep after two hours. I decided to read something. Anyway, here's the sock. I will get more picture tomorrow.

Wow! It's 11/30 and my sister's B'day alraedy!! This year fly by quickly. I need to drop off shipping to the USPS before work tomorrow morning....Really needs some ZZZ.................

I got that done few weeks ago and didn't have time to put here. I finished more hats and I didn't have chance to take pictures. It's not much new projects in the knitting sides.

I went to the Quilter Quest few on 11/10-11/11, I met a new quilter pal name Mary Jane who live at Lafeyette. She is getting information on the Tokyo Quilt Show in Jan 19-20, 2007. Hello from Anaheim, CA....Disney Land

This week, I am in Anaheim, Disney Land!! Mickey Mouse. Mini Mouse. Well, I am at the IBM IOD conference. Ah, it's not really good catch name with IOD!! I got my eyes on the CA's DB2V7 reference which I have been using since v3. Today is my 20 years after my first Laid off from Chemical Bank. It seems like just yesterday as my ex-collages, Stephaine, put it that I turn out so much better. Then the last year's laid off from Schwab was another stage of changes. I got three months off and money to spare. It definited a great things for me. Life is full of changes. I gave myself a toss to the 21 years in IT.

Terracotta Warriors....great performance

This afternoon, I went to see Terracotta Warriors with Judy and her sister, linda. We have a big dim sum lunch and walked to the Theatre in 18 minutes. It is a fast walks for 12 blocks and talked about greate exercise. I took the to my condo before picking up my car. Linda likes to see the place, we stayed about 5 minutes. It's an empty place so not much to show. I saw two door down, there's a nice dinette near the window. The show is exciting and increditable performance with song and dance and many. Here's couple picture from the cast and they are so nice to post for us.
Judy also bought another DVD call "Heartbeat" which is also another coming musical soon come to the our area. I saw an interview on PBS which describe how amazing of there special dance and training.

9/30/2006, Think Pink Day... Sewing 4 Quilt Blocks

I went to the Think Pink Day at the Thimble Creek yesterday. I carried my sewing machine, few quilting tools and got there early. Not that many people and one lady finish one block and left in hours. I left around 1pm and got 4 blocks done. I feel great and I even altered my last lock Shoofly by adding a 3" minitures in the middle block. Sally Collins stopped and we got saw her beautiful Pineapple minitures quilt. She is my idol and her quilts are awesome and I collect all her books and few blocks. I should finish them someday. Here's a gift I got from the Thimble Creek, it is a beautiful bracelet and a very nice surprise. I forgot to take pictures of my blocks but they a will be on the Web before December auctions.

I also found another piece of "Bracelet" from my stash. It's a row stitches counters. I got this from a ebay buyer whose mother was makng them. I am try to find a picture to practice using them.
I got a call from Lily Kwong, she had quite her jobs four months due to her illness of depression. She is always nice to keeping contact. I am going to send her a card to cheer her up. I invite her to come to visit and I told her she may like to stay in my condo since it's more convinent. The weekend come and got quickly. I took pictures on my phone and I have to figure out how to down load them to "gapper"

Pumkin (18+ pounds). Rustic Arrow Sock done.

This afternoon, Mom harvests a hugh pumkin (18+pounds) from the Martinez Community Garden. We also got some tomato, basil. That makes great lunch with fresh vegetables. We also have few green bean for dinner. Mom made some stuff pepers, eggplants...nice dishes.

I finished my Mistery Sock yesterday. I used 2 skeins of Purple Woolease and it turns out they are different lots and it has different tone. The left on on the picture has a deeper purple. I have 45 gm left on each skein, so I am making another pair. Each Skein was 85gm and hope it is enough for 2 pairs. I enjoy making them. It's a CO of 48 stitches and the pattern is easy to remember with knits for all odd rows.

Mistery Sock in progress....

My mistery sock (Rustic Arrow) is half done or at least the complicate part is over!!

I am working on the sweater and didn't have time for pictur today. I went to Monday night knitting group, few of us have a good time. I brought over my latest knitting book to the group; Lori took 2 and Bennie took the rest. They love baby knitting books.

Today is 911 five year mark. I always feel lucky that I have move to CA since 93. My thoughs go thru the image and how was there at the 93 bloming. Working down 68 floors and that was such a bad memories. After all these years, missing the WTC is very sad. It was the place I work and knew every store to shop, eat and got out the subway sense. When I went back in 2003, everythings has changes; no 7WTC which was another building with Salomon Brother's office building. I haven't been in touch with friends in NYC. I should call more often. Keep in touch more often. I miss lots of good time and all the year I spent there.

Tonight, I finish my Scale Skin Socks. Size 0 46" circular one needle two sock with the yarn I got from Marietta, GA back in March. It's 45% Cooton 40% Superwash Wool, 15% Nylon. The pattern is easy to knit with on row pattern to remember.

This is also my Sock Per Month KAL. After this, I am going to work on my mistery sock KAL.

Sock and more sock

This is my August Sock for the Month-A-Sock-KAL-II, It's for my Monday night Knitting Group's friend Maylene. She picks this color. The yarn is from Knitpicks, cotton stretch and I used the size 1 circular needle two socks on one needle method. I developed the pattern with just 4 rows and simple knit and purl stitches which sort of hide the stitches well. I started 6 pairs in 6 different colors and this is last to the second one I got done. I am planning to get them all done and take pictures all together. Would that be nice?

Last night, I cast on my Six-Sock-KAL for Aug-Sept. The pattern called "scales skin sock". I use the Sock yarn I bought from in March when I was attending my DB2 DataSharing Class in Marrietta, GA. The yarn is very colorful and it cotton with cool. I am using size 0 needle. I have been knitting two socks on one circular needles for awhile and I really like this. It's lesser tangles and no "Single Sock Syndrome". This is my sock with 'picot cluff' and it is a very interest concept and I am sure I will make more use in the future projects.
